XPathEvaluator

XPathEvaluator is a small tool that helps you "write" XPath expressions, just load any XML or HTML (even broken HTML works) file or uri into the program and play around with different XPath expressions.

• Tabs displaying the result of the xpath evaluation and error messages
• double clicking a result item jumps to that item in the tree view

Requirements

• Qt at least version 4.1.2 (I did not test with 4.1.1 or 4.1.0), available from www.trolltech.com
• Python 2.4 - I did not test with Python2.3, although it should run, if it doesn't please let me know, you can get it from: http://www.python.org
• PyXML - I used 0.8.4, grab it from:http://pyxml.sourceforge.net/
• sip 4 - a program to wrap C++ code for Python, available from here: http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/sip/index.php (always use the latest sip 4 snapshots)
• PyQt4 - Python binding for Qt4, available from: http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/pyqt/index.php (always use the latest PyQt4 snapshots)
• lxml - Version 1.0 is needed for the HTML Parser, you can grab it from http://codespeak.net/lxml/ or from the cheeseshop

Installation

Currently XPathEvaluator cannot be installed, it needs to be run out of its containing directory.

This will be changed at some point, but it's not high priority, if somebody feels like providing a patch I'd be happy to include it.

The latest version of XPathEvaluator is: 0.3.0

It can be downloaded from here: xpathevaluator-0.3.0.tar.gz

Please note that this is a very early version and there are a bunch of "shortcommings", especially in terms of speed.
